Great Expectations BBC trailer

Since quite a few people were curious about the new BBC version of Great Expectations staring Gillian Anderson which was shown in the UK over Christmas I’ve posted the trailer below.

I’ve heard rumour that its showing in the US in April but it is possible I’m thinking of something else (I do that a lot) As explained in my previous post I only watched the first episode as I didn’t think it was any good but that was more to do with the general atmosphere of the thing and not the actors, although it is strange to that Pip is more beautiful than Estella.
They are also filming a new film version starring Helena Bonham Carter so perhaps we will all be sick of Pip and his adventures, it seems overkill.

  1. hope ypu enjoy it I did different to the lean version from years ago ,all the best stu

  2. Thanks for posting! From that brief glimpse it seems that the movie really does the book no justice, but I am enchanted by Pip's actor ;)

  3. Watched this and really enjoyed it, though confess it is not a Dickens I have read so was not too familiar with the story. I thought Gillian anderson was brilliant.
    thanks for sharing

  4. I would love to see Gillian Anderson as Miss Havisham! She looks rather ghostly, as the character is supposed to be.

However, I expected Estella to look more stunning. And Pip looks rather dashing, if you ask me. :)

  5. Hmm, I don't know about this one. I'm with you, I think Pip looks a bit too Hollywood pretty. I'm more excited about the film adaptation. I think Helena Bonham Carter would make a perfect Miss Havisham.
