Dewey's Read-a-thon

I've been thinking of doing this the Dewey's Read-a-thon and with just over 24 hours to go I've decided I'm doing it. This decision was also made with the help of some other bloggers such as Queenbee and Rachael from 'And the plot thickens..'

I do have a fair amount of spare time over the weekend (esp when my son has gone to bed)but I need to take my sleep when I can get it so I certainly won't be reading for a whole 24 hours.

This is what I'll be trying to make a dent in...

I've wanted to read this for ages now and although I'm not expecting to finish it, I am hoping to make a good start to it. Im not a huge Stephen King fan but I do know his books are quite easy to read and the books tend to plod along nicely which is why I've chosen The Stand. Well thats the plan anyway.

  1. Goodluck!!

I tossed up between a few "small" books or one huge one. I still haven't made up my mind what I want to read but am leaning more towards the small books as my attention span is not that great.. lol

I haven't read the stand but liked the mini series and it's on my unofficial TBR list.

Looking forward to see what you think of it :)

  2. Without question, The Stand is King's best work and, as snobbish I can be about books sometimes, I consider it one of the best overall books I've ever read. I've gone through that behemoth at least four times in my life, the first being when I was thirteen. I really hope you enjoy it!

  3. Glad you decided to participate...I'll be thinking of you sleeping while I'm propping my eyes open with toothpicks...LOL! I've got Under the Dome on my list. Not sure if you've seen that monstrous chunkster, but if you have you'll know what I mean when I say I may not try to tackle the whole thing! I've got you on my list of blogs I follow so I'll try to stop by with encouragement periodically. Enjoy!

  4. Good Luck! I haven't read any of Stephen King, so I will look forward to your thoughts.

I may only get one book read too -- there is a possiblity I may gain some weight from all the sugar I bought.

  7. Wow, good luck working your way through The Stand! I do think a read-a-thon is the perfect time to read those books that you wouldn't have time to read otherwise.
